About Cert II in Music (Technical Production Stream)

Certificate II in Music Industry (CUA20615) (Performance Stream) is a Collarts certified entry level course for people who want to work in the music industry with a foundation of music industry skills and knowledge.

Here, you will develop a knowledge of signal flow and gain structure, which are two fundamental elements of working with live stage equipment and in a recording studio environment. You will also learn about a range of microphones and other input devices commonly used in live and studio applications, as well as basic micing techniques for a number of different instruments. You will also gain valuable skills and experience in how to operate a large range of musical equipment, such as P.A systems, mixing consoles, guitar and bass amplifiers, direct input devices, etc.

You will also be taught how to work effectively in a studio environment, and how to maintain an efficient workflow from session to session. You will learn how to work collaberatively with other studio personnel and performers, to achieve the best result possible from a recording session. Throughout the duration of the course you will also cover basic mixing techniques, and have the opportunity to mix your own recording session.

This qualification is available to school students on VETis program on day release, subject to arrangement between individual schools and Castlerock.
